Public Relations to achieve optimal health
It may seem that PR bears no relation to complementary therapies - in fact the opposite is true. Public Relations is fundamentally about communicating the clearest message possible to your audience so that all the facts and angles can be looked at and taken into consideration.
My belief is that a person-centred approach is the best way forward - taking an individual's needs, desires and personality into consideration without judgement or a need for interpretation. This is always how a consultation takes place in my practice and, over the years, I've been able to apply this thinking with my PR skills to help spread the message further.
In the early 2000s I was in the fortunate position of being a voluntary member on the Board of the Association of Reflexologists with responsibility for PR. Over the years I have enjoyed writing about and promoting my own complementary health practice whenever the opportunity has arisen. In the last three years, I have worked closely with a local charity, Holme Farm, to continue spreading the word about holistic health, choice and the importance of people having the confidence to trust their instincts about what makes them tick.
Since 2022, I have become a PR Consultant for COCO Primary Care Network (COCO PCN) with responsibility for establishing the three GP surgeries that make up COCO PCN (Chertsey Health Centre, Ottershaw Surgery, Crouch Oak Family Practice) in the community, highlighting the work of all the medical teams that support their patients and the work of social prescribers to assist people in finding the groups and activities that will help them lead more fulfilled lives.
I am rather partial to butter and in many ways Public Relations is like butter, in that it adds delicious flavour to food!
